Weigh in on the Future of Lexington’s Waste Collection

The Town of Lexington is working to cut down on the amount of trash that ends up in local landfills, by increasing participation in recycling and composting programs. This effort is part of the Town's goal to achieve a 90 percent diversion rate by 2050, which falls under the Town's Zero Waste plan

So, how can you contribute?

Take this survey, designed by a team of Tufts University graduate students in the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning. The group's semester-long research project will culminate in recommendations for the Town on how they can change their waste collection system and achieve waste reduction.

The survey will allow you to share your thoughts on multitude of topics impacting waste collection.

The survey should only take five to ten minutes to complete.

Cary Lecture Series: Creating Equality of Opportunity in America: New Insights from Big Data - Prof Raj Chetty

In his work with colleagues at Harvard, Professor Chetty asks how we can restore the American Dream of upward mobility for our children? He will discuss how and why children’s chances of climbing the income ladder vary across neighborhoods, the persistence of racial disparities in economic mobility, and the role of social capital in promoting upward mobility.  The talk will conclude by discussing how these research findings can be used to change policies in domains ranging from affordable housing to higher education to improve economic opportunities for all.

Raj Chetty is the William A. Ackman Professor of Public Economics at Harvard University, Director of the nonprofit Opportunity Insights, recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, and one of the youngest tenured professors in Harvard history.

BUDA Youth Frisbee

BUDA youth frisbee offers fun and competitive frisbee for kids in grades K-12. Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport that encourages a lot of running and teamwork. Instead of referees, players are encouraged to learn the rules and make their own calls. Not easy, but a valuable life skill. All grades will have at least one opportunity to play against teams from other towns, and players in grades 7/8 will have three all at our home site.

Our youth programs use "call your own fee". At checkout, you indicate the right fee for you. No questions, no emails, just your decision to pay what is right for you. We love having new players and don't want finances to stand in the way of young people learning and playing the sport.

Note that there are amazing offerings this (and every!) summer for grades 9-12 players, from our local hs league to regional competition and all the way up to national competition.

REGISTRATION: Click here for more info and registration
