LHS School Council - Parents are invited to apply for one of two open Parent Representative Seats

The Lexington High School Council is seeking two LHS parent candidates to each serve a three-year term starting in 2019/2020 school year.  

The purpose of the School Council is to work collaboratively with the Principal to develop school improvement plans consistent with system wide goals and student performance standards set by the Massachusetts Board of Education.  Council members help plan ways to meet the diverse learning needs of students; establish a school climate of tolerance and respect for every individual; involve parents in the life of the school; impact safety and discipline; enhance extracurricular activities and more. The Council is composed of five LHS parents, five faculty, two community representatives, three students and the Principal. Please note the role of the parent representative on the school council is to serve and support the high school and it is not a position associated with the PTO.

Candidate Eligibility:  Parents and guardians who will have a child/children enrolled at LHS continuously from 2019-2022 are eligible to apply (this includes parents of current 8th grade students).  

Deadline to apply is end of day Friday, April 12th, 2019

Candidates should include the following information

  1. Your Name (First, Last)

  2. Your child/children's name, grade, and school (we won't post this information, but will use this to help verify that you will be eligible for the full 3 year term). [example: John Doe, gr10, LHS;  Jane Doe, gr 8, Clarke]

  3. Brief description on why you are interested in the role and any experience(s) you feel is relevant to the role (Limit of 200 words).  This description will be used in the event an election is triggered.

Will there be an election?  

If more than two candidates apply, the PTO will facilitate an election to be held from April 24 - May 17, 2019 and results will be released after votes are tabulated and verified.  All rising 9-12th grade LHS parents will be eligible to vote for up to 2 candidates.

Le conseil du lycee de Lexington (The Lexington high school council) est a la recherche de deux candidatures de parents qui serviront 3 years de contrats a la rentree de 2019.

Le but de ce conseil est de travailler de facon collaborative avec le directeur du Lycee pour developer des plans d’amelioration du lycee concordant avec les objectifs et les performances standards etablis par le systeme educatif du Massachussets.

Les membres de ce conseil aident a etablir des plans pour satisfaire les differents besoins d’education des etudiants, etablir un climat de tolerance et de respect individuel, faire participer les parents dans la vie de l’ecole, recentrer la discipline et la securite, approfondir les activitees en dehors de l’ecole et bien plus encore.

Le conseil est compose de 5 parents du lycee, 5 professeurs, 2 representants de la communite, 3, etudiants et le directeur de l’ecole. Pour etre candidat , il faut etre parent ou gardien d’un ou plusieurs enfants au lycee continuellement de 2019 a 2022 ( cela comprend les enfants en 8thgrade actuellement )

La date limite pour l’application est le vendredi 12 Avril 2019.

S’il y a plus de deux candidats, le PTO organisera une election du 24 avril au 17 Mai. Tous les parents rentrant au lycee et etant deja au lycee pourront voter.
